I
absolutely adore Doug Bloodworth’s artwork. He captures childhood nostalgia
perfectly with references to pop culture and childhood snacks. His artwork is
inspired by Pop Art and the western concept of the American dream. They show
references to comic books that he was inspired from as a child. He paints
directly onto the canvas without a grid. Buying a mere print of his costs
$1200!
Bloodworth
graduated in 1974 with a degree in Commercial Arts. He started out painting
simple caricatures to designing billboards. His photorealistic paintings have
been displayed all over the world.
I find his
work incredibly inspiring because you understand the message he is trying to
convey without even reading about it. It brings about feelings of that
nostalgia of being a pre-teen and eating cookies and snacks on the weekend.
